WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Bartlesville Regional United Way is to provide leadership by addressing community needs, by mobilizing community resources, by assessing and prioritizing community needs, by collectively and appropriately distributing funds and assuring agency accountability all while improving social well-being and maximizing personal growth.

OUR GOALS

  • To provide a process for identifying and assessing community needs.
  • To provide a convenient and centralized process of raising funds for multiple agencies or needs.
  • To provide accountability to the public for how funds are distributed and used to meet (identified) needs.
  • To provide the ability to maximize use of funds raised through low overhead and administrative costs.
  • To provide a validation to the community that identified needs are being met.
  • To provide an information and referral service to assist access to services.

OUR HISTORY

The history of United Way dates back to 1939, then called the Community Chest. In 1943, the Community Chest became the Bartlesville United Community Fund and War Fund. In 1962, a second organization was formed as the United Health and Services Fund. In 1969, the two funds combined and were incorporated as the United Fund of Washington County. In 1990, the United Fund affiliated with the national organization, United Way of America, and became the Bartlesville Regional United Way..
