United Way Tournament Breaks Record
The 15th annual United Way Scramble sponsored by ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 set a new record this year, projecting to gross just over $700,000 and bringing in a critical portion of the $2.3 million campaign goal.
“I am extremely grateful for the generosity of the sponsors and the golfers that have made the 15th annual Tee It Up for United Way Scramble sponsored by ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 a huge success,” said United Way CEO and President Lisa Cary. “Randy John and the golf committee that works year around to make this event happen are the best around. This tournament will allow our 13 partner agencies and initiatives to assist many people in the areas of health, education and financial stability.”
The 2018 tournament spanned four days from Sept. 11-14. Throughout the tournament, around 900 golfers and 150 sponsors participate, with almost half of them coming from out of town.
“It’s a great opportunity for ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 to partner with our suppliers to put on this magnificent event benefitting our community,” said golf tournament coordinator Randy John. “It’s humbling to hear everything that the United Way is able to do with the money and the thousands of lives that are touched through the fundraising efforts. It’s an honor to be part of such a special event.”
The tournament first started in 2003, raising around $8,000. Since then, it has grown to be believed as one of the largest golf tournaments in Oklahoma.
The United Way funds 31 programs at 13 partner agencies in the areas of health, education and financial stability. The projected $700,000 raised through the Golf Scramble hosted by ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66, is a critical portion used in the fight to better the communities of Washington, Nowata and Osage counties.
Last year, the funds raised through the Golf Scramble and the community campaign allowed the partner agencies to help over 26,500 people in the area. With the new recorder breaking tournament, they are projected to help even more members of the communities during the 2018 campaign.
