Marketing, Public Relations and Events Manager Job Description

TITLE: Marketing, Public Relations and Events Manger 

REPORTS TO: President & CEO

Marketing, Public Relations and Event Manager

Lead, develop and execute the marketing and communication strategy and plan; supporting fundraising activities and increasing awareness and understanding of BRUW’s mission and work in the community.


 Marketing Materials and Strategies- 60%

  • Develop overall marketing strategy for a successful campaign.
  • Manage the brand strategy for BRUW and ensure consistency with UWW. Promote brand awareness necessary to position BRUW as a leader in the community.
  • Develop concepts and messages consistent with our brand and strategy.
  • Manages Social Media in support of organizational brand goals.
  • Plan, produce, and publish the organization’s annual report, to include developing content.
  • Cultivate new relationships with new partners, driving them toward deepened engagement with United Way.  
  • Attend community events and campaign kickoffs.  Coordinate with other BRUW staff and provide presentations at United Way in the community.
  • Develop ongoing relationships and contacts with radio, newspaper and media sources and provide them with appropriate releases of BRUW information
  • Collaborate with President and CEO and other staff to develop campaign collateral
  • Learn and utilize the United Way database program to help analyze, segment and target communication and campaign efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Public Relations- 20%

  • Gain the confidence and trust of others through strong leadership and volunteer management practices.
  • Learn and develop from personal experience and from others.
  • Foster a sense of energy, ownership, and personal connection to the work, the communities we serve, and our volunteers and donors.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate BRUW core values in all internal and external relationships.
  • Continuously cultivate new media relationships and grow BRUW’s network.
  • Collaborate with the President and CEO and other staff provide presentations to the community. 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Committee lead and attend all marketing meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Event Coordination- 20%

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, coordinate and manage events, including Day of Caring, Pacesetter recognition, Annual Meeting, Campaign Kickoff and others.  Participate in campaign events and other organization events as needed.

Key event duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Establishing each event budget including revenue and expense tracking and monitoring.
  • Plan and manage logistics including selection of and coordination with all vendors and partners, guest lists, event programs.
  • Necessary event set-up and breakdown.
  • Identifying and resolving problems throughout planning and day of events.
  • Create and implement volunteer and event marketing promotional plan in coordination with Marketing & Communications staff.
    • Ability to perform other event and marketing duties, such as taking photographs, assisting guests, solving immediate issues, writing solicitations.
    • Developing marketing materials and promotional materials.
    • Other duties as assigned.

Job qualifications, knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience preferred.  
  • Strong writing ability and experience in working with creative partners.
  • Experience with and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • The ideal candidate is a motivated, highly organized, self-starter who is comfortable working closely and collaboratively with a diverse group of colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.  Marketing experience a plus
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Adaptable to dynamic work environment with strong multi-tasking & prioritizing skills.
  • Positive and friendly interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to navigate Canva, Social Media Outlets and other programs as required.
  • Valid driver’s license & insurance and/or reliable transportation
