Bartlesville Regional United Way seeking 2014 Venture Grant applicants

The Bartlesville Regional United Way announced that applications for the 2014 Venture Grants will be opening soon.
Venture Grants are one-time grants for local nonprofit agencies to help fund programs that meet critical, unmet needs in the community and fit within the Bartlesville Regional United Way’s funding priorities. These competitive, merit-based grants will be distributed through a committee made up of community members.
Anyone wishing to apply for a grant will need to attend a workshop which will explain the grant purpose and give instructions on the application process. The first workshop will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 23, and the second workshop will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 13 at the BRUW office at 415 SE Silas Street. Participants only need to attend one of the workshops as the same information will be presented on both dates. A member of the organization must attend a workshop to apply. After the workshop, attendees will be able to fill out an application online at
The deadline to complete the application is 5 p.m. on March 14, 2014.
Any qualifying 501(c) 3 nonprofit agency in the Bartlesville Regional United Way service area is eligible to apply. Service areas include Washington, Nowata and parts of Osage county. Grant requests should not exceed $10,000 and the requested amount can be no more than 50 percent of the total project budget.
Grants will not be awarded for general operational expenses, or to further fund programs already funded by the Bartlesville Regional United Way allocation process.
Nonprofits should focus on addressing needs identified in the 2010 community profile which can be found online at Suggestions include – but are not limited to — addressing issues such as promoting self-sufficiency, helping the growing homeless population and the growing senior population and providing access to affordable healthcare and mental health services.
