Development, Community Impact and Fundraising and Events Job Description
Business and Partner Agency Development, Community Impact and Fundraising.
Responsible for overseeing components of new business development, which United
Way is looking to grow significantly. The candidate will work closely with external
partners, including donors, volunteers, and corporations. The candidate must have the
ability to motivate and mobilize volunteers and donors and work collaboratively across
departments within the organization.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business and Partner Agency Development – 40%
  • Individual, Business and Corporate Relations:
  • Leverage current partner and vendor relationships, develop new business relationships and execute on new partnerships.
  • Cold-call new business prospects.
  • Train and socialize New Business internally across the organization, including best practices in the acquisition and internal protocol and processes.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote the United Way brand to key stakeholders and donors
  • Develop new relationships with sponsors for each event, driving them toward deepened engagement with United Way.
  • Facilitate communication and relationship-building with community partners and key stakeholders (local organizations, businesses and individuals)

  • Solicit and secure sponsorships, in-kind donations and items for events to grow net revenue for BRUW events

Agency Relations:

  • Develop good working knowledge of all United Way member agencies and venture grant program services
  • Promote member agencies and services they provide to the community
  • Technical assistance for agencies as requested by Executive Director
  • Working with agency application and Community Investment Committee process using community impact on-line database management programs (CI-ODM

Community Impact- 30%

  • Primary duties include:
  • Liaison for 13 partner agencies, including agency relationships, communications, advocacy, collaborations and outreach support.

Manage the annual application process for Community Impact funding, including but not limited to:

  • System configuration, training and user support of online tool for staff, nonprofit applicants, and volunteers.
  • Lead application reviews, managing volunteer team, and analysis of applicant data, outcomes and operational strength, to ensure accountable stewardship of donor contributions.
  • Facilitate agency funding notifications and interim reporting.
  • Organizing the Community Investment process including volunteer recruitment, scheduling of meetings and record maintenance
  • Maintain and update the account records of assigned groups
  • Maintain and update a file on volunteers and potential volunteers
 
Campaign- 30%
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the annual United Way giving campaign with Executive Director, Marketing Manager and volunteer Campaign Chair
  • Responsible to coordinate the United Way giving campaign
  • Provide leadership and management to the Campaign Ambassadors
  • Provide a campaign outline of the annual United Way giving campaign
  • Enhance donor growth by identifying new donors and resource partners
  • Cultivate new campaigns and identify Campaign Ambassador Cultivation calls
  • Work with major companies throughout the year to expand giving
  • Maintain good year-round community relations with key contributors
  • Develop a strong presence and solid relationships with the local community
  • Maintain awareness of political, social and economic factors in the community that may affect the campaign
  • Work with Marketing Manager as needed in planning and coordinating community functions involving the campaign such as the Kick-off and Pacesetter event
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and implementation of the United Way

Workplace Campaigns:
  • Support existing employee campaigns and motivate workplace employee campaign managers/volunteers with pre-campaign meetings, timely materials and training, donor incentives and recognitions
  • Meet with each workplace employee campaign manager/volunteers before and during campaign, including attendance at company campaign events, if permitted
  • Develop new workplace strategies and tools, set goals, develop timetables and work plans
  • Analyze and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of campaigns and make suggestions for improvement.
 
Job qualifications, knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Bachelors degree required. 
  • Positive and friendly interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills.  Marketing experience a plus.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Adaptable to dynamic work environment with strong multi-tasking & prioritizing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and high proficiency with all Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong technical skills with ability to master new database and web-based platforms.
