Each year The Salvation Army conducts a canned food drive through the local schools in October and November. When we collect all the items, which we could also use help with, we then sort the food into categories. Once the food is sorted then we begin to make a box of various items that will be distributed to clients that are a part of our Angel Tree program. It is a box of food that is thought to be their Christmas dinner but can be whatever they like. So the help would be sorting food and then boxing the food for individual families.
I’ve put the hours there because it does take a lot of time to get this project done but the more people we have the quicker and less time that it takes. I put the hours that I did because that’s how long it could take when it’s just our staff and few volunteers. It can be daunting at times.
We would not require the group coming to do the entirety of the project unless that was something they wanted to do. Any amount of help would be deeply appreciated!
We pick up from the school locations starting November 7th and sort the following two weeks until it is done. Any help from a large group for even a day would be incredibly helpful.
